FAQs
HOW DO I APPLY?
Email details to hope@norwood.org.uk
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I APPLY?
Once you have applied for a place at The Hope Centre you will receive a letter confirming that you are on our waiting list. When a suitable place becomes available you will be contacted and invited in for a screening.
At the screening your child will be seen by 2 or 3 members of our team who will informally assess your child’s needs. The screening will last between 1.5 and 2 hours, you will have a chance to look around the centre, ask any questions you may have and speak to someone about funding.
You will be contacted again shortly after the screening and be told whether Hope is able to offer your child a place. An individualised programme will then be created in discussion with you.
HOW CAN I HAVE MY CHILD ASSESSED?
Just contact the Centre and request an application form. If you would like to speak to someone about your child before you apply leave your details and someone will get back to you.
If you are interested in a stand alone assessment and not intervention please mention this when you call.
CAN I APPLY TO THE CENTRE JUST FOR SLT OR OT?
Yes you can. Although we believe in a holistic approach to our students needs if a child applies who has specific occupational therapy or speech therapy requirements they will be screened by the relevant person who will then devise a programme for your child.
WILL I RECEIVE A REPORT FOLLOWING THE ASSESSMENT?
We do not write any formal reports following the initial screening. You will receive a thorough report following the dynamic assessment. This is written once the multi-disciplinary team has been working with your child for 6-8 weeks.
Please see details on dynamic assessment and the fee schedule for costs.
WHAT TIMES ARE THE SESSIONS?
The Centre is open during school terms, we run to the same term dates as Brent. Sessions run Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm on most days. We do our utmost to accommodate you and your child’s needs and find sessions that have the least interruptions to you and your child’s life.
HOW OFTEN DOES MY CHILD NEED TO COME?
In order to generalise learning we recommend a minimum of 2 sessions per week
DO I HAVE TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE SESSIONS?

I CAN’T GET TO THE CENTRE WILL YOU COME TO MY HOUSE OR SCHOOL?
We do offer an outreach service where our mediators and therapists come to your child’s school. Please speak to the Head of Education if you would prefer sessions to take place in school. Depending on your child’s programme you may need to bring your child to the Centre for some sessions.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

CAN I HAVE HOPE NAMED ON THE STATEMENT?
